Vietnam’s Petrovietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) has been hired on a jack-up assignment for a development drilling program at a field off the coast of Vietnam, Southeast Asia.

PV Drilling has signed a contract with Zarubezhneft EP Vietnam (ZNEP) for the provision of jack-up drilling unit services for the 2026 development drilling campaign at Block 12/11 offshore Vietnam.

“Amid the positive recovery of the drilling market, PV Drilling is not only expanding its presence in Malaysia, Brunei and Indonesia but also continues to play a vital role in securing leased rig supply for the Vietnamese market with high standards of safety and efficiency,”explained the company.

The contract signing ceremony was attended by the management of ZNEP, along with PV Drilling and its partner. The jack-up rig will mobilize to execute the drilling campaign at the Thien Nga – Hai Au field in Block 12/11.

The assignment’s duration is expected to be approximately 160 days, with the commencement window in October 2026. This campaign is interpreted to represent a strategic milestone for ZNEP’s oilfield development in Vietnam.

While Nguyen Xuan Cuong, President & CEO of PV Drilling, reaffirmed the commitment to delivering drilling services at a reasonable price, a representative of ZNEP expressed strong confidence in the former’s capabilities as demonstrated by previously executed drilling campaigns.

The company also highlighted that the drilling player deployed two rigs in 2025 with high working efficiency and operational safety. The latest contract is said to underscore ZNEP’s continued trust in PV Drilling’s technical expertise and service quality.

This comes after PV Drilling inked a deal to provide a second jack-up rig for the 2026 drilling campaign of PVEP–Cuu Long at Block 15-1 offshore Vietnam, covering two wells with a total duration of approximately 104 days.

The deal is slated to begin in July 2026, with Borr Drilling’s Thor jack-up rig secured for the work. PV Drilling confirmed a naming ceremony in March 2026 for a multi-purpose jack-up rig it bought from Noble Corporation last year.
