TMS Cardiff Gas has been tied to Samsung Heavy Industries’ KRW 750.5bn ($504m) contract for two LNG carriers, according to Samsung Heavy Industries’ regulatory filing.

Samsung Heavy named the buyer only as an Oceania-based shipowner and said the ships are due for delivery by June 2029.

The deal lifts the South Korean shipbuilder’s 2026 order intake to $3.9bn for 19 ships, including nine LNG carriers, two container ships and four crude oil carriers.

The buyer has been identified as George Economou-controlled TMS Cardiff Gas. The order follows a 7 May statement from TMC Compressors that Samsung Heavy selected the company to supply marine compressed-air systems for four 174,000-cbm LNG carriers under construction for TMS Cardiff Gas.

TMS Cardiff Gas is a Greece-based LNG shipping company established in 2011 and involved in the management of LNG carriers linked to Cardiff LNG.

Samsung Heavy Industries is a South Korean shipbuilder whose portfolio includes gas carriers, tankers, container ships, drillships and offshore units.
