Recently, 35 twenty-foot quartz sand containers organized by Pacific Logistics Company, a subsidiary of Chongqing Shipping (Group) Co., Ltd., departed from Chongqing Guoyuan Port aboard the vessels “Chuan Chang 007” and “Chuan Chang 002” heading to Nanchong, Sichuan, marking the official launch of the “Qianli Qingzhou” Nanchong waterway route operated by Chongqing Shipping Group.
The route spans approximately 260 kilometers, traversing a canalized waterway with multi-step navigation hubs. Since the full implementation of nighttime navigation on the Jialing River in January 2026, the waterway’s navigational capacity has been comprehensively upgraded, reducing voyage time from 10 days to just 3 days, significantly improving water transport efficiency. Additionally, compared to road transport, this route can reduce comprehensive logistics costs by 20%-25%, offering outstanding economic advantages.
The Nanchong route successfully connects the main stream of the Yangtze River with the tributary of the Jialing River, further densifying and improving the waterway logistics network in the Sichuan-Chongqing region. After its launch, the route will provide stable and efficient water transport support for pillar industries such as chemicals, grain and oil, and building materials in Nanchong and the northeastern Sichuan region, strongly promoting the optimization and upgrading of the “road-to-water” transport structure. It will also empower the coordinated development of the Yangtze River Golden Waterway, the New Western Land-Sea Corridor, and the China-Europe Railway Express, injecting strong momentum into the expansion and capacity enhancement of water transport channels.
