Expiring at the end of 2025, Interporto Rivers Venezia submitted an application in the second half of last year to extend its concession until the end of 2029 for over 11,000 square meters of port areas behind a quay of almost 470 meters, located along the western bank of the Ovest industrial canal in Marghera.

After the intervention of the Transport Regulatory Authority and the finalization of the documentation, the Port System Authority of Venice proceeded, for the purpose of any counteroffers, to publish the documents submitted by the terminal operating company belonging to Orlean Invest Holding, which on its 256,000 square meters of property behind the state-owned area, where with 4 self-propelled harbor cranes of 80-100 tons it handles cereals, flours, cements, and steel products (both bulk and packaged), offers various storage and logistics services, thanks to approximately 100,000 square meters of warehouses, 63,000 cubic meters of silos, and a railway siding 5,000 meters long.

The figures of the business plan submitted to the Adsp, from staffing to investments to the expected effects of the latter on turnover, employment, and volumes, have all been redacted, but it can be read how “the future strategic objectives of Interporto Rivers Venezia S.r.l. consist of further expanding the variety of the current market, on the one hand by optimizing – and possibly replacing in case of greater operating margins – existing contracts and relationships, and on the other hand by setting up new storage centers (both by modernizing what is already in the terminal and by acquiring new areas) dedicated to even more profitable product sectors.”

The paragraph on investments is also extensive. Again, the details have not been made available for consultation but, limiting oneself to a descriptive list, mention should at least be made of “the automation of rail traffic”, “the construction of a new logistics platform in the former Eckart area, functional to the expansion of operations related to Project Cargo handling”, “the purchase and installation of a Liebherr Lhm420 crane”, as well as some quay reinforcement works, “with a consequent direct increase in the productive capacity of the area”.

Finally, it should be highlighted how Interporto Rivers believes that “the successful completion of the aforementioned works to improve nautical accessibility by this Port System Authority (the dredging works of the Malamocco-Marghera Canal, whose authorization procedure is still ongoing, ed.) is essential to allow Interporto Rivers Venezia S.r.l. to bear the cost of the annual state property concession fee, as well as to develop its business project”.
