Farra Marine has taken delivery from Diverse Marine of another crew transfer vessel (CTV), Farra Lir, and is in advance discussions with the UK yard for three more vessels

In a statement, Diverse Marine said the contract being negotiated for the potential three-vessel order also includes options for more vessels of the same type.

Farra Lir is a Brevity XL CTV, designed by Chartwell Marine, and will start work shortly off the east coast of the UK.

Farra Lir is 27.2 m in length overall with a beam of 10 m and is fitted with a quad IMO Tier-3 Volvo Penta IPS propulsion system.

Its hullform has a fine entry with higher buoyance reserves above the main chines and a high wet deck, which when combined with low a propulsion line provides excellent seakeeping and passenger transfer capabilities.

A resilient superstructure ensures very low noise and vibration levels in the passenger saloon, with recordings at less than 55 dBA at full power.

The first example of another Chartwell design, the Brevity SL, is on display at Seawork 2026 in Southampton, in Farra Tuireann livery. This design measures under 23.9 m load line at 26 m length overall. It is also fitted with quad IMO Tier-3 Volvo Penta IPS propulsion and Hull-Vane transom foils, optimised for fuel efficiency at cruising speed.

Diverse Marine director Ben Colman said, “We are delighted to continue developing our partnership with Farra Marine and build on our longstanding relationship with Andy Page at Chartwell Marine.

“Formalising this partnership with Farra is a significant milestone for us all and we look forward to seeing these vessels in operation.”

Farra Marine chief executive Martin Rice said, “This marks the next step in Farra Marine’s growth strategy. We have known Ben Colman and Andy Page for more than 12 years and we have a great relationship – Diverse Marine and Chartwell understand what we want from a vessel.

“The attention to detail is what impressed me most and there is a genuine willingness to support us 24/7 as we build towards a fleet of 50 vessels. Diverse Marine and UK supply chain have delivered an outstanding vessel. We look forward to closing out an agreement for the additional vessels and delivery later this year.”
