Verde Marine Energy (VME) has completed its first physical bunkering of B100 advanced FAME in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.

The delivery was made to the Beautriton, a vessel owned by Vertom and operated and managed by Vertraco and ECL.

For the operation, VME partnered with Sunoil-Biodiesel and IJsselland Bio Fuels B.V. to load B100 at the Standic terminal in Dordrecht, Netherlands. The company says it is now in a position to supply EN 14214- and ISO-compliant B100 by barge and truck across the ARA market using its own logistics, with full certification and documentation.

Joe Tierney, Director and Head of Trading at VME, commented: “This first physical biofuel supply is a key step for Verde Marine Energy. By supplying B100 ourselves, we strengthen our role as a marine fuel supplier and create a practical route for shipowners to access sustainable bunker fuels.”

Christian Sterken, Sustainability Specialist at VME, added: “From a RED III compliance perspective, this shifts VME from preparation to execution. We are building the operational and compliance foundations for a long-term renewable fuel strategy.”

Earlier this month, VME announced the renewal of its ISCC EU certification and declared that it was fully compliant with the revised Renewable Energy Directive (RED III). The company, which is part of the Vertom Group, explained on 9 June that it holds certification as both a Trader with Storage and a Proof of Compliance Trader under the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) EU scheme — positioning it to supply certified sustainable marine biofuels.

RED III, which updates and strengthens the EU’s framework for renewable energy, introduces more stringent requirements around the sustainability and traceability of biofuels. ISCC EU certification is one of the recognised schemes under which companies can demonstrate compliance with these requirements.

VME operates as a marine fuel supplier in the Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Antwerp (ARA) region.
