At around 10 a.m. on June 17, the Singapore-flagged vessel “Xin Hang Shuang Yu Zuo,” loaded with over 180 lithium-ion battery energy storage cabinets, smoothly completed border inspection procedures and slowly departed from Songyu Terminal of Xiamen Port for Malaysia. This marks that the cumulative export volume of lithium battery products from Xiamen Port has exceeded 25,000 TEUs since the beginning of this year.

Most lithium batteries fall under Class 9 dangerous goods, characterized by strict safety control standards and short effective operation windows during export operations. In response to the pain points and difficulties faced by enterprises, the Xiamen port authorities, based on their port control functions, have introduced precise safeguard measures. By formulating a special duty plan with “three front-loading” measures—deployment of police forces, services, and control—they have achieved “inspection upon arrival, loading upon completion of inspection, and departure upon completion of loading” for vessels, effectively reducing port stay time and improving turnover efficiency. At the same time, they have established a normalized police-enterprise linkage system in collaboration with terminals, agents, shipowners, and other parties, obtaining operation plans in advance, proactively sharing inspection progress, and strengthening order management in key areas and time periods within the port area, thereby creating a smooth and efficient customs clearance environment for lithium battery exports while ensuring safety.

Lithium batteries are a core category of China’s “new three” foreign trade products. Leveraging its geographical advantage of being close to new energy core enterprises such as CATL, Xiamen Port has now become an important hub port for lithium battery exports in China.
