On June 18, Fujian Province’s first exclusive service station for female ocean-going seafarers—the Silk Road “Fanghua” Seafarer Service Station—was officially inaugurated.

According to reports, the Silk Road “Fanghua” Seafarer Service Station offers one-stop exclusive services centered on five dimensions: life, health, care, growth, and environment, providing comprehensive protection for female seafarers. The station is equipped with specialized female care and replenishment kits, with supplies updated according to shipping routes and seasons; customized labor protection gear tailored to female body shapes; a dedicated express transfer channel for the station to facilitate the exchange of items between crew members and their families; and private rest and conversation rooms, along with personalized boarding supply lists to address various needs of life at sea.

At the same time, the service station also offers customized health check-up packages for female seafarers, establishing individual health files on a one-person-one-file basis; regularly conducts psychological assessments and stress relief classes, with professional psychological counselors providing one-on-one guidance; and layers three levels of medical protection—employee medical insurance, overseas shipowner insurance, and union supplementary medical insurance—to build a strong health protection wall for female seafarers. In response to issues such as interpersonal conflicts, workplace bullying, and inappropriate harassment on board, a confidential complaint channel has been established, with follow-up throughout the process until the problem is resolved; regular training on gender equality and anti-bullying is conducted, clearly stating zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior at sea; female seafarers encountering difficulties in interpersonal relationships on board can request coordination and intervention through the service station, ensuring that female seafarers work on ships with greater peace of mind and dignity.

“Unlike general-purpose crew service stations, the Silk Road ‘Fanghua’ Seafarer Service Station focuses on female seafarers by offering differentiated and exclusive safeguard services, complementing the existing ‘Silk Road Series’ crew service stations in Quanzhou, and serving as an important extension of the crew service network in the jurisdiction,” said a relevant official from Quanzhou Maritime Safety Administration. The station further broadens the coverage of crew services, specifically targeting the small and special group of female seafarers, making the layout of the “Silk Road Series” crew service stations more comprehensive and the service system more complete, achieving full coverage and meticulous care for all types of seafarer groups.
