The Oil Companies International Marine Forum (OCIMF) has appointed Don Davis, General Manager of Global Maritime Assurance at Chevron, as its new Managing Director.
Don Davis will join OCIMF on secondment from Chevron and officially assume his new role on July 1, 2026, succeeding current Managing Director Karen Davis. To ensure a smooth leadership transition, Karen Davis will remain in her position until the end of this month.
This appointment comes at an important time in OCIMF’s development. Under Karen Davis’s leadership, the organization recently adopted a new mission statement: “Uniting to advance maritime safety in the energy sector,” reflecting OCIMF’s evolving role in supporting safe and responsible maritime operations within an increasingly diverse energy landscape, aiming to provide maritime safety assurance for the broader energy sector. As Managing Director, Don Davis will guide OCIMF in advancing maritime safety, environmental stewardship, and operational best practices globally, while helping to achieve the organization’s future strategic priorities.
Don Davis brings over 30 years of extensive experience in tanker, barge, and offshore vessel operations, with deep expertise in maritime safety, operational assurance, and leadership. He is also well-regarded within OCIMF: for the past five years, he has served as Chevron’s representative on the organization’s “Publications and Advocacy Offshore Committee,” including four years as Chair; he currently also serves as Chevron’s alternate representative on the OCIMF Executive Committee.
OCIMF Chairman Lambros Klaudatos said: “We are very pleased to welcome Don Davis to OCIMF. He combines exceptional operational expertise, strategic leadership, and deep industry knowledge. Due to his close collaboration with OCIMF over many years, he has a profound understanding of our members, our mission, and the challenges and opportunities facing the maritime industry. As the energy sector continues to evolve, maritime safety remains the cornerstone of our industry’s success. Don Davis’s experience, commitment to collaboration, and pursuit of operational excellence make him well-suited to lead OCIMF into its next chapter.”
Lambros Klaudatos also highly commended Karen Davis’s contributions to OCIMF: “Karen Davis has demonstrated outstanding leadership during her tenure as Managing Director and has laid a solid foundation for OCIMF’s future development. She has led the organization through a significant period of transformation, including the successful launch of the SIRE 2.0 system, and the formulation of OCIMF’s new mission and its broader role in the energy sector.”
