At 09:45, the West Port Area Rapid Response and Disposal Center received a distress call from the vessel “Hangsheng**”: a male crew member had accidentally fallen into a cabin while the vessel was anchored on the north side of FN#10 Black Buoy, was unable to move, and urgently needed medical treatment.

Upon receiving the report, the West Port Area Rapid Response and Disposal Center immediately activated the emergency plan and rapidly dispatched the “Haixun 06819,” which was on patrol nearby, to rush to the vessel in distress.

At 09:50, Haixun 06819 arrived at the vessel. Law enforcement officers boarded and found the injured crew member lying at the bottom of the cabin, conscious but unable to move.

The law enforcement officers immediately coordinated for an ambulance to rush to the Shuangshan Car Ferry South Terminal. Meanwhile, under remote guidance from 120 over the phone, they assisted other crew members in carrying out emergency rescue work. At the same time, the maritime patrol vessel immediately went to the ferry terminal to pick up medical personnel and bring them to the vessel. The medical personnel then carried out rescue and transfer operations, moving the injured crew member to the maritime patrol vessel, which transferred the injured person to the 120 ambulance for further medical treatment at the hospital.

It is understood that the crew member is no longer in serious condition and has been discharged from the hospital to recuperate at home.

Maritime Safety Reminder

Ship hatches and ladder areas are slippery and narrow. When working on water, always watch your step, promptly clean up accumulated water and oil stains on the deck and inside the cabin, wear anti-slip protective gear properly, and routinely study emergency rescue knowledge. If an accident occurs, immediately call the maritime rescue hotline 12395.

Safety in water operations is no small matter; always keep the string of protection taut!
