On June 23, 2026, China Marine Bunker (Chimbusco) and Shenergy Group signed a ship green methanol procurement agreement, locking in 6,000 tons of marine green methanol, setting a new record for a single domestic green methanol procurement. The two parties held a delivery ceremony on June 24 at the Fubao Terminal in Shanghai Chemical Industry Park. This largest single domestic green methanol procurement by China Marine Bunker injected strong momentum into the construction of the “dual center” for green fuel bunkering and trading in Shanghai International Shipping.
China Marine Bunker is one of the designated pilot enterprises for green methanol bunkering at Shanghai Port. Relying on a large-scale bunkering network covering the national coastal and riverine areas, it has implemented methanol bunkering demonstration projects in multiple locations including Shanghai Yangshan, Dalian, Ningbo Zhoushan, Qingdao, and Shenzhen. In April this year, it successfully completed Zhejiang Province’s first ship-to-ship bonded green methanol bunkering operation, accumulating rich experience in the full-process operation of methanol bunkering.
China Marine Bunker also leads the industry in hardware supporting capabilities. The newly built dual-phase stainless steel professional methanol bunkering vessel “Zhongran Lvneng 85” was delivered on June 5 and can operate at multiple ports within China. Combined with the national bonded warehousing and integrated supply system, China Marine Bunker has established an exclusive advantage in undertaking large-scale, multi-regional methanol fuel orders.
This green methanol procurement is a key implementation project for the national ten-ministerial Shanghai Green Fuel “Dual Center” plan and the Shanghai Port pilot tasks. The cooperation leverages Shenergy Group’s local 100,000-ton green methanol production capacity and China Marine Bunker’s professional methanol bunkering service capabilities, laying the foundation for opening up the entire chain of “Shanghai-produced, Shanghai-bunkered” green methanol. At the same time, it leverages China Marine Bunker’s cross-regional deployment advantages to build a nationally coordinated green fuel supply guarantee channel under the premise of统筹 domestic multi-regional green methanol production capacity, meeting shipowners’ multi-regional, large-scale green methanol bunkering needs.
Qin Ling, Secretary of the Party Committee and General Manager of China Marine Bunker, stated that the company takes Shanghai as the core hub for national green marine fuel, continuously increasing investment in bunkering vessels and storage facility construction, improving carbon traceability and safety operation standards, simultaneously deploying green LNG and green ammonia as diversified low-carbon fuels, building a one-stop comprehensive green marine fuel service system, and constructing a globally competitive green fuel supply chain to help China’s shipping industry lead the global decarbonization process.
In the next step, China Marine Bunker will take this green methanol procurement as an opportunity to establish a long-term, stable cooperative relationship with Shenergy Group, continuously expand the scale of green methanol supply guarantee, leverage the scale advantages of central enterprises, and safeguard the realization of the “dual carbon” goals with concrete actions.
