The Chacabuco Port Company (Emporcha) has taken steps to improve its digital transformation, its institutional probity indices, and territorial linkage through a series of investments that have been possible, according to the state-owned company, following the close of a positive fiscal year in 2025.
In terms of digitalization, the state-owned port company of the Aysén del General Carlos Ibáñez del Campo Region advanced its real-time multi-port shipping planning. This is a platform designed under the most demanding current software engineering standards, using cutting-edge technologies such as 10 and Microsoft SQL Server.
The tool operates under a “Multiport” format, integrating and segregating critical information from different terminals in the region in a unified manner. After a successful initial phase in Puerto Cisnes, the system is now fully operational at the Melinka and Puerto Aguirre facilities, allowing shipping agencies to register their vessels’ port calls directly in the digital environment.
This innovation, Emporcha highlighted, optimizes the allocation of berths and docks, automatically generates official planning documents in PDF format for the logistics ecosystem, and ensures the integrity and total availability of data (vessel registrations, dockings, containers, and waiting times) within the company’s internal network.
Alongside advances in port efficiency, public probity and good corporate practices have been consolidated as pillars of the state-owned company’s governance. In a nationwide ceremony, Emporcha was distinguished with the Organizational Ethics and Integrity recognition awarded by the Generación Empresarial Foundation (FGE), after being evaluated using the Integrity Barometer tool.
This award places the port company at the forefront of compliance and transparency in the public sector. The seal acts as a crucial trust asset for clients and stakeholders of the southern macro-region, demonstrating that port expansion is carried out under strict guidelines of excellence and probity.
In terms of linkage with the community and regional industry stakeholders, Emporcha highlighted the maturity of its Puerto Chacabuco Logistics Community (founded in 2019). This is a public-private space that began its work cycle by aligning infrastructure requirements with the needs of key industries in the area, such as the energy sector (Esmax) and the salmon export driver (Consejo del Salmón, Mowi, AquaChile, Friosur).
Under the leadership of the state-owned company, this trade governance has managed to balance high efficiency at the docks with an active policy of citizen engagement. Evidence of this was the massive on-site event held at Site 1 of the International Passenger Terminal, where local schools and higher education institutions interacted with an information fair of public and private services (such as Customs and stevedoring companies) on the occasion of the reception of a historic vintage car caravan.
This deployment is complemented by support actions in remote localities, such as the logistical support provided at the Puerto Aguirre Connectivity Ramp to enable the kayak and diving nautical gathering in the Huichas Islands, boosting sustainable tourism and sports on the Aysén coastline.
