The Port of Kuryk has successfully handled a large shipment of subsea fiber-optic cable as part of the strategic “Azerbaijan-Kazakhstan Sea Cable System” project. According to JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, the cargo was delivered to the port by a convoy of three specialized vehicles, after which specialists carried out all necessary operations to receive and process the equipment.

The company noted that the next stage involves shipping the cable to Azerbaijan, where it will be used to build trans-Caspian digital infrastructure. The project aims to create a new telecommunications corridor designed to enhance the reliability and capacity of data transmission channels between Asia and Europe, as well as to strengthen digital integration among the region’s countries.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy emphasized that the Port of Kuryk continues to play a vital role in implementing international infrastructure initiatives by providing logistical support for major projects. The port’s involvement in transporting equipment for the subsea cable system also reinforces the significance of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route and strengthens Kazakhstan’s position as a key transit hub between East and West.
