Second MSC ultra-large LNG dual-fuel boxship enters dry dock at Zhoushan

The second 19,000-teu LNG dual-fuel container ship being built by Changhong International for Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) has entered dry dock at the shipbuilder’s facility in Zhoushan, China.

Designated CHB2048, the vessel was docked at the No. 1 dock of Changhong’s Daishan Base on 22 June. The docking ceremony was attended by JiHun Jung, manager of the MSC on-site supervision project team, representatives from classification society DNV, Geng Hongwei, general manager of Daishan Shipbuilding, and other personnel.

The vessel is the second in a series of ultra-large container ships classed by DNV. The ships measure approximately 366.0 metres in overall length, with a length between perpendiculars of 360.7 metres, a beam of 58.8 metres, a depth of 30.2 metres, and a design draught of 17.0 metres. Each vessel has a capacity of 19,000 TEU.
