Technip and Samsung Engineering awarded contract for Texas LNG

Must read

Technip Energies and Samsung Engineering have been awarded a pre-final investment decision engineering contract for the Texas LNG project in Brownsville, Texas, USA

The proposed 4-mta LNG export facility site is located on the Port of Brownsville’s deepwater ship channel in close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico.

Technip, in a joint venture with Samsung Engineering, will serve as lead project contractor responsible for project design and delivery. The project will utilise Technip’s SnapLNG system which was developed with American industrial supplier Air Products and Chemicals Inc. SnapLNG combines a compact modular design concept for mid-scale trains with standardised components and technology.

Technip senior vice president gas and low-carbon energies Loic Chapuis said, “We are pleased to have been selected by Texas LNG to lead the front-end engineering design and project delivery and to integrate our modular SnapLNG solution, which is well-suited for the North America market.”

“LNG is more critical than ever in the current global energy context and we are committed to bring our long-standing leadership in LNG to address today’s and tomorrow’s challenges. Our SnapLNG solution illustrates how Technip Energies can address these challenges by bringing to market a low-carbon, modularised and methane-free solution within a compressed time.”

Texas LNG now has full authorisation from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the Department of Energy and will export to global LNG markets. First exports are expected in 2025.
