A fire broke out in the engine room of general cargo ship Siya (IMO 9442108) on June 12th at Yalova, Turkey, in the Marmara sea. The fire was extinguished by the joint efforts of an SAR ship, tugs and firefighting engines. The ship is docked in a shipyard and has been under repairs since January 2022. As of June 12th the vessel was moored in Yalova, Turkey, having arrived there on May 31st.

/cruise ship Empress (IMO 8716899) was reported to have been denied entry into the /Puducherry Port on June 10th by the authorities. The ship was halted midsea at 04:00. Tamil Nadu political parties have apparently demanded that the ship should not be allowed to enter port because facilities on the ship include casinos and other gambling activities, which are not allowed in the union territory of Puducherry. In addition the sale of alcohol from other
states is prohibited in Puducherry. As the ship had alcohol on board from Andhra Pradesh. the officials of the port have stated it as a reason to deny entry. The ship was awaiting approval from Cuddalore Port. As of June 12th the vessel was moored in Chennai, India.

Since the beginning of the Russian war against the Ukraine, 680 Ukrainian refugees had been living on board passenger ship Méditerranée (IMO 8705395) in Marseille. However, they were scheduled for eviction on June 10th. The Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture indicated that it was
looking for accommodation solutions. The Corsica Line ferry wants to resume service with the start of the summer season. As of June 12th the vessel was still moored in Marseille.
1989-built, France-flagged, 30,985 gt Méditerranée is owned and managed by Corsica Linea Sasu of Marseille, France. It is entered with West of England (European Claims Team) on behalf of Corsica Lines Sasu.
The US has pledged an additional $10m towards a fund that hopes to prevent an oil spill from the FSO Safer, which has been slowly rusting away off the Yemeni coast for several years. The US Secretary of State called on all Red Sea stakeholders to fund salvage operations. There were fears that this year’s monsoon could rip the vessel apart and release 1.1m barrels of oil into the sea. However, the fund is still some $80m short of the amount needed to offload the oil to another vessel.
The captain of /vehicle RoRo Protoporos VI (IMO 9657222) was reported to have been arrested at midday on June 12th in the port of Thassos, because the vessel had too many passengers on board upon its arrival from Keramotis. It was claimed that there were 463
passengers on board rather than the current maximum of 311. A preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Thasos Port Authority. As of June 13th the vessel was moored in Thasos, Greece.
2012-built, Cyprus-flagged, 1,997 gt Protoporos VI is owned by Cibous Ltd of Nicosia, Cyprus. It is managed by Osios David Joint venture of Salamina, Greece.
Bulk carrier ship Honwin (IMO 9558892, “Thunder” on Equasis) was in collision with a barge
towed by tug Bina Marine 59 (IMO 9571844) early on June 11th in the Singapore Strait north of Batam. The barge,loaded with about 4,500 tons of granite, was damaged and towed to shallower water to prevent it sinking. The bulk carrier was allowed to continue sailing.
As of June 10th (last available AIS position) the Honwin was en route from Gangavaram, India, to Bahudopi, Indonesia, ETA June 15th.
As of June 13th the Bina Marine 59 was north of Batam in the Singapore Strait.
