ABS approves Seatrium’s FPSO prototype

Must read

Seatrium celebrated a milestone in its innovation development, after its patented FPSO FLEXHull 1500K-M officially received Approval in Principle (AiP) from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).

Conferred at the ABS Offshore 2025 Reception held during the FPSO World Congress Week, this recognition underlines Seatrium’s capabilities to deliver industry and future-ready innovations, including deepwater technologies.

The FLEXHull transports heavier top-side loads, of up to 80,000 MT; has a flexible and efficient hull design, easily modifiable for different top-side load requirements; expanded tank capacity for greater storage; flexible mooring systems with up to 20 points; was built for deep waters of up to 2,500 meters; processes 120,000 barrels of oil per day and stores more than 1.5 million barrels; and is designed for a service life of 25 years, aligned with global standards (IMO, Marpol and ABS).

“Designed to operate in challenging offshore environments, including deepwater regions such as the coast of Brazil, FLEXHull is a bold step forward in smarter, more adaptable and efficient offshore production. This reinforces our role as a leader in next-generation energy solutions,” explain from Seatrium.
