ABS has granted approval in principle (AIP) to HD Hyundai Mipo for the development of a 30,000 CBM liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier and bunkering vessel design. The vessel is intended to transport LNG as cargo and serve as a bunkering unit, meeting the growing demand for flexible fuel solutions. The approval was announced by the American Bureau of Shipping.
The latest measures focus on shipping facilitators and logistics firms that enable the Houthis to secure advanced military-grade components, including those used in ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and unmanned aerial vehicles. Among the entities named are United Arab Emirates-based Tyba Ship Management DMCC, which operates four oil tankers flagged in Barbados, Antigua and Barbuda, and Panama, all identified as serving Houthi-controlled ports.
China-based companies such as Guangzhou Yakai International Freight Forwarding Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Nahari Trading Co., Ltd. were cited for supplying dual-use materials and concealing shipments to Yemen. Another Chinese supplier, Hubei Chica Industrial Co., Ltd., was linked to chemical precursor deliveries and falsified shipping documents. These actions build on earlier sanctions and align with U.S. policy aimed at curbing Iranian-backed maritime threats. The designations underscore the Treasury’s broader strategy to cut off revenue streams, procurement channels, and global supply chains that finance and sustain Houthi maritime activities.
