Representatives of shipping companies, maritime services companies, and the energy transition attended the presentation of the port of Algeciras in Singapore, within the framework of the trade mission being carried out this week by the Algeciras Bay Port Authority (APBA) together with about twenty companies from the port community.
During the presentation, the president of the APBA, Gerardo Landaluce, emphasized that “the ports of Algeciras and Singapore have great potential to cooperate in digitalization and decarbonization,” thereby reinforcing the established relationship between these two major global logistics and port hubs. Innovation and sustainability are two key elements in the progress of the port of Algeciras to lead the energy transition, with the ‘Green Energy Hub’ strategy as the tool that encompasses the different public and private initiatives being implemented in the Algeciras Bay area to achieve the decarbonization of the sector through the production, distribution, and use of green fuels.
Together with the president of the Port Community (Comport), José Manuel Tejedor, and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, Carlos Fenoy, Landaluce has led this trade mission, which included an intense work agenda that culminated with the presentation event of the port of Algeciras and its port community in the halls of the 18th floor of the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel in downtown Singapore.
Commercial Relations
In addition to officials from the Port Authority, port community, and Chamber of Commerce, representatives from the companies Algeciras Logistic, Pérez y Cía; BayPort, BMT Repairs, Crosscomar, Cryo Logistics, Elcome Europe, Incargo Andalucía, Moeve, Península, Remesa, Repsol Trading, ROSM Marine Electronic, Sandvik Marine Electronic, Tanaval, Telemar, Total Logistic, Transbull, and Zener Marine also traveled to the country located in the Strait of Malacca.
Prior to the presentation, the delegation held various working sessions and meetings; visits to terminals, shipping companies, shipyards, professional associations in the sector, etc., with the aim of strengthening commercial and business relations between the two port communities. This new trade mission of the port of Algeciras in Asia has had the on-the-ground support of the Economic and Commercial Office of Spain in Singapore; and the financial backing of the Chamber of Commerce’s Global SME Program, co-financed with EU Feder Funds and the Provincial Council.
