The president of Puertos del Estado, Gustavo Santana, the Secretary General of Air and Maritime Transport, Benito Núñez and the president of the Port Authority of Algeciras, Gerardo Landaluce are attending the Global Gateway Forum 2025 this week in Brussels. In this second edition, the debates focus on the future of sustainable and resilient alliances with the goal of boosting global connectivity in the face of geopolitical and geoeconomic challenges.
Spain and Panama will present tomorrow the Green and Digital Corridor between Panama and the port of Algeciras, a pioneering initiative driven by a memorandum of understanding that seeks to decarbonize container maritime traffic on one of the most strategic transoceanic lines, which is the route between the Canal and the Strait of Gibraltar. “Faithful to our green strategy, we promote coordinated investments for the supply of alternative fuels, such as biofuels, e-methanol, ammonia; the development of electrical connections for ships; as well as the digitalization of logistics and operational efficiency, guaranteeing a comprehensive and scalable approach towards climate-neutral maritime transport,” stated the president of Algeciras.
