North Star has awarded a £2M contract to Great Yarmouth-based Alicat Workboats to build two more Chartwell-designed daughter craft
The vessels will be added to its new renewables fleet, which has been contracted to support the Dogger Bank offshore windfarm in the North Sea.
In September 2021, Alicat won a competitive tender to build an initial two daughter craft for the service operation vessel (SOV) owner, utilising a hybrid-powered design developed by Chartwell Marine in collaboration with North Star.
North Star’s first SOV vessel is due to be delivered to the Dogger Bank partners Equinor, SSE Renewables and Eni in 2023.
The quartet of Alicat-built daughter craft will provide safe transfer of windfarm technicians and equipment from the SOVs to wind turbines.
