All crew members rescued after abandoning tanker in Arabian Sea

The Indian Coast Guard said that it had rescued all 22 crew members of /bitumen tanker Global King (IMO 9394727), which was taking on water in the Arabian Sea off the Indian state of Gujarat.

The crew members had abandoned ship into a liferaft, leaving the vessel adrift and reported to be sinking because of flooding. The vessel was reported to be 93nm from Porbandar, India.

The ICG said on Twitter that “all crew are safe and healthy”.

The vessel was said to be carrying 6,000 tonnes of Bitumen.

2007-built, Panama-flagged, 6,457 gt Global King 1 is owned by Global Eye Shipping Lines Inc care of Global Tankers Pvt Ltd of Chandigarh, India. It is managed by Glory International FZ-LLC of Ras Al Khaimah,UAE. It is entered with Shipowners Club on behalf of Glory International FZ-LLC.
