APM Terminals (APMT) has introduced a new operational structure as part of its ‘Safer, Better, Bigger’ strategy in order to improve its agility and enable responsible growth.
As part of this new operational structure, the company has established three macro regions which include Africa & Europe, Americas and Asia & Middle East in addition to APMT’s Hubs & Collaboration organisation, which primarily focuses on synergies and innovation opportunities between terminals and Maersk Ocean.
Keith Svendson, APMT CEO, said: “As we dive deeper into our strategy execution this year, we are introducing changes that help us keep up with market developments and customers’ expectation, and which make us safer, more agile and better performing.
“In parallel, we maintain our strong commitment to the communities where we operate, anchoring our local strength, expertise and experience with our terminals around the world.”
As part of the company’s streamlined and simplified management structure, regional managing directors now report directly to the CEO and with a more focused COO function to help drive operational excellence and automation.
In line with APMT’s revised and more robust decarbonisation ambition, the decarbonisation office has also become part of the COO function with the head of decarbonisation for APMT reporting directly to the new COO.
APMT committed in January 2022 to bring forward by a decade its Net Zero greenhouse gas emission target to 2040 and to a 70% reduction in total emissions as an interim milestone for the period 2020-2030.
