The Port Authority of Santos (APS) inaugurated the Port Guard (Gport) room at the Concais passenger terminal, which will be used to control access to the wharf of the Port of Santos during the 2025 cruise season.
The facility was used last season. This year, it was expanded and re-equipped, including a state-of-the-art access control system, so that Gport can operate more effectively.
“This room will make it easier for guards to provide the best service to passengers, ship crews, and other professionals who have access to the wharves and vessels,” stated the superintendent of Gport, Wagner Pinheiro.
The lessee Concais is responsible for controlling passenger access to the wharf and the cruise ships. Gport is responsible for controlling the access of everyone else, including crew members and service providers.
“This is another piece of equipment of great importance that is delivered to the Port Authority. We are sure that we will have a great cruise season this year,” emphasized the Operations Director of APS, Beto Mendes.
Present at the inauguration ceremony were the operations manager of Concais, Javier Carnevale, tax auditors, and port guards.
“The work of the Port Guard is exemplary. We often say that if the port area were a neighborhood, it would be the largest in Santos and would have the lowest crime rates. There is no place for crime here,” stated the delegate Martha Vergine, head of the 5th Tourism Assistance Police Station (Deatur) of the Civil Police.
