Ardmore Shipping Corporation implemented SteelCorr across its entire fleet, an AI-based application designed to optimize corrosion monitoring and paint maintenance.
This initiative marks another step in the shipping company’s strategy to integrate innovation into daily operations and promote safety, performance, and long-term asset integrity.
The SteelCorr Digital Paint Report (DPR) application is now available on Ardmore vessels, allowing the crew to monitor corrosion and manage paint condition through a unified, data-based platform. Using artificial intelligence, the tool analyzes images uploaded by the crew to automatically generate corrosion reports, identify trends, and optimize maintenance planning and inventory control.
The application improves the consistency and accuracy of fleet condition monitoring, while significantly reducing the time for manual report generation and enabling more efficient workflows. This allows the crew to focus on higher-value operational priorities.
The introduction of SteelCorr’s DPR technology will also help preserve the integrity of Ardmore’s high-quality fleet, extending its lifespan, supporting safer performance, and reducing the risk of unscheduled repair costs.
“The adoption of the SteelCorr application reflects our commitment to integrating intelligent, data-based solutions into the foundation of our ship management operations. It enables faster and more informed decision-making, strengthens collaboration between ship and shore, and ensures we are proactive in protecting the condition of our fleet. Most importantly, it is a tool that optimizes the work of our seafarers, reducing the manual workload and promoting real-time operational excellence,” said Suraj Batra, Senior Manager of Fleet Operations at Ardmore Shipping.
The implementation of the DPR application is part of a broader digitalization journey for Ardmore, including its Energy Transition Plan (ETP), which focuses on applying new technologies to enhance efficiency, reduce emissions, and strengthen resilience across the company.
