Argenta Syndicate Management Ltd (ASML), a subsidiary of
Argenta Holdings Ltd, has appointed Stephen Haynes to the position of marine
excess of loss underwriter, effective immediately. Based in London, he will
report to Heath Callan, Argenta’s head of energy and marine insurance.
Haynes brings has approaching four decades of experience
in the energy and marine insurance market and joins from AXIS Re where he was
head of global energy and marine reinsurance.
He joined Axis following the acquisition of Novae where
he held the role of class underwriter, marine and energy reinsurance.
Prior to this, Haynes held senior underwriting positions
at Platinum Re, St Paul Re and was class underwriter, marine and aviation
reinsurance, at Catlin Underwriting Services.
Callan said: “It’s been a challenging period for global
energy and marine industries. The ongoing conflict in Ukraine, navigating
energy transitions, and the evolving concerns surrounding Environmental, Social
& Governance (ESG) continues to challenge the energy sector – while the
lingering impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent supply chain
disruption, port congestion and crew issues has posed challenges in the marine
industry. The constantly changing environment will bring new risk challenges in
2023.”

underwriting capacity for 2022 of £660m.
Hannover Re supports 100% of the £97m underwriting
capacity of SPA 6134, which provides quota share reinsurance to Syndicate 2121.
