Arkas Line announces direct weekly service from the East Mediterranean and Italy to West Africa

Must read

Arkas Line says it has launched a direct weekly service from the East Mediterranean and Italy to West Africa via its newly established Med Africa Service (MAS), which combines the existing Blue Med Service (BMS) and West Africa Service (WAS) lines. The new route marks a new chapter in Arkas Line’s regional strategy by offering customers faster, more reliable, and regular shipping solutions for shipments to Africa.

Arkas Line has added yet another new strategic route to its global maritime network. The Med Africa Service (MAS), established by merging the Blue Med Service (BMS) and West Africa Service (WAS), directly connects Eastern Mediterranean and Italian ports to West Africa, marking the beginning of a new era in Arkas Line’s service coverage.

Until now, shipments to Africa were carried out via transshipment in Morocco. The new MAS service enables direct access to these destinations, significantly reducing transit times. This improvement not only increases operational efficiency but also brings greater predictability to supply chain planning.

The MAS service will operate on a weekly basis, covering a wide range of ports including Alexandria – Beirut – Lattakia – Mersin – Aliaga – La Spezia – Genoa – Casablanca – Dakar – Lagos (Apapa, Tincan) – Tema – Abidjan – Nouakchott – Casablanca – Tangier – Valencia – Barcelona – Fos – La Spezia – Genoa – Salerno – Alexandria.

The service will be operated by a total of 10 vessels, each with capacities ranging between 1,600 and 2,500 TEU. The first voyage of the service is scheduled to take place on October 20, 2025.

A New Milestone in Africa Services

Through the MAS service, Arkas Line is redefining its service network in Africa. The company’s previous transshipment-based model has transformed into a direct service structure, providing customers with shorter transit times, predictable operations, and uninterrupted shipping solutions.

This development reflects Arkas Line’s commitment to strengthening regional connections, optimizing the end-to-end logistics chain, and accelerating trade flows. The new line not only provides direct access to Africa but also continues to offer seamless service along the Levant–Western Mediterranean and Levant–Casablanca corridors, maintaining continuity in existing cargo flows.

Adding New Value to the Arkas Network Through Investment

The MAS service takes Arkas Line’s existing investment and robust service infrastructure for Africa to the next level. Direct links from the Eastern Mediterranean and Italy to Africa will bring operational efficiency, time savings, and easier planning to other ports in the Arkas network, offering an integrated benefit.
