The Cooperativa de Armadores de Pesca of the port of Vigo organized a marine cleanup day in Santa Pola within the framework of the European Nettag project under the name ‘Clean Ocean Day’. The activity saw the participation of Arvi and the Cofradía de pescadores of Santa Pola, as well as 11 vessels that voluntarily joined the cleanup and marine waste sorting operation.
The activity took place in the vicinity of the port, after the boats returned to land. In total, 78.5kg of marine litter, largely of land-based origin, were removed, and 22 kg of waste generated on board by the vessels themselves were responsibly managed. Actions like this reflect Arvi’s commitment to protecting the marine environment and to a joint effort that promotes a more responsible future for the fishing sector and coastal communities.
