The German-Singaporean group strengthens its fleet as 2025 shapes up to be a record year for orders in the container sector

Singapore – The shipping company Asiatic Lloyd, part of the Bunnemann family’s AL group, has placed a new order for two 7,100 teu container ships with its reference Chinese shipyard, Dalian Shipbuilding.
According to brokerage sources, the price of the deal has not yet been disclosed. The company, with operational headquarters in Singapore and Hamburg, is also active in the tanker, car carrier, and dry bulk sectors.
2025 is shaping up to be an exceptional year for new container ship orders: in the first half of the year alone, 2.3 million teu in newbuildings were contracted, a pace that could surpass the 2024 annual total of 4.4 million teu, the second highest ever recorded in the history of the sector.
