Ban on departure of ships in Keratsini

Must read

The Keratsini Port Authority was updated that during the mooring of a tanker (T/X) flying the flag of Togo, in the presence of a pilot and with the assistance of two tugboats (T/B), the ship’s mooring line broke, resulting in it shifting to the left and coming into contact with a nearby moored passenger-car carrier (/C) ship, in the sea area of Neos Molos Drapetsonas in the port of Keratsini.

Material damage was caused to the right side of the bridge of the /C from the incident, while the T/X lost both of its anchors. Subsequently, the tanker moored at the Perama dock where it docked safely. The Second Keratsini Port Department of the Central Piraeus Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, prohibited the departure of both ships until the submission of relevant certificates from the surveyors monitoring them. No injuries were caused by the incident and no sea pollution was observed.
