Blue Gem deploys LiDAR at Valorous floating wind site

Must read

Blue Gem Wind, the joint venture between TotalEnergies and Simply Blue Group, has deployed a floating LiDAR system to the Valorous project site to continue an offshore metocean campaign in the Celtic Sea

Blue Gem Wind delivery manager Alfie Wisdom said, “The LiDAR will provide us with wind, wave and current data from the proposed Valorous project site, further adding to information already collected from our test and demonstration project, Erebus. This will allow us to undertake engineering and environmental studies with greater confidence in the site conditions and wind resource.”

Valorous is the second floating offshore wind project being progressed by Blue Gem Wind in the Celtic Sea. The site is approximately 50 km southwest of the Pembrokeshire coastline.

Valorous is a proposed 300-MW floating offshore windfarm. The project follows on from Erebus, a 96-MW test and demonstration project that is already in development. The Erebus project received seabed rights in August 2020.

The Offshore Wind Journal Conference will be held 14 June 2022. Details and tickets can be found here
