Body Of A Dead Filipino Man Evacuated After Colliding With A Crane On The MV Lowlands Ship

The Banda Aceh SAR Agency team successfully evacuated the bodies of Filipino victims who were also members of a vessel flying the flag of Panama. They reportedly lost their lives in an accident.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain, the head of Basarnas Banda Aceh, informed that his name was Crispin F Cadiz. He is a member of the MV Lowlands Comfort.

Ibnu Harris Al Hussain clarified that the victim lost his life on 4 July from hitting a crane when the vessel he was working on, was crossing the Indian Ocean. He was treated on the vessel but eventually passed away.

The evacuation was done in the Bengal Strait, between the Islands of Weh and Aceh. A SAR ship dubbed KN Kresna 232 was used in the process. The distance from the evacuation site was 7.5 nm from Ulee Lheue Port based in Banda Aceh City, where the KN Kresna 232 rests.

Ibnu Harris mentioned that MV Lowlands is a cargo vessel that weighs about 43,000 gross tons. The MV Lowlands set sail from the US via the Suez Canal, to China from Egypt.

Besides the Basarnas team, the evacuation involved the personnel of the Indonesian Navy, the Malahayati Port Health Office, radio communication communities, harbormasters, customs, immigration, coastal radio units, and other similar and relevant agencies.
