Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar, located in New York, announced the agreements signed between BOTAŞ and energy companies.
Bayraktar stated that BOTAŞ signed a long-term LNG supply agreement spanning 20 years with Mercuria, one of the world’s leading energy groups, saying, “Under the deliveries starting as of 2026, we will receive approximately 4 billion cubic meters per year, and a total of approximately 70 billion cubic meters of natural gas equivalent LNG, both from loading terminals in the USA and from regasification facilities in Turkey, Europe, and North Africa.”
The Energy Minister said, “This agreement, which increases BOTAŞ’s effectiveness in global LNG trade, will also support our country’s vision for long-term supply security, price stability, and resource diversity. I wish the agreement to be beneficial for our country and all stakeholders.”
Minister Bayraktar also stated that BOTAŞ reached a preliminary agreement with Woodside Energy. This agreement for long-term LNG supply, which will last 9 years, will start in 2030.
The agreement covers the supply of approximately 5.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas equivalent LNG to BOTAŞ, primarily sourced from the Louisiana LNG Project in the USA.
