The crew of the Euronav’s VLCC Antigone has rescued a group of migrants in the Mediterranean
Euronav’s 2015-built, 299,400-dwt VLCC Antigone has rescued eight Syrian refugees in the waters around Malta.
The Spanish authorities alerted the crew of Antigone to the plight of the refugees, whose vessel had run out of fuel, water and food.
A rescue at sea is always dangerous and the crew of Antigone has been praised for undertaking the operation safely and taking care of the refugees once they had been safely brought on board.
In 2021, Capital Group received an honourable mention during a gala dinner at the Tanker Shipping & Trade Conference, Exhibition & Awards in Athens for the rescue of over 150 migrants in the Mediterranean by its Aframax tanker Aristofanis.
