The Mutual Aid Plan (PAM) of the Port of Santos, coordinated by the Santos Port Authority (APS), will hold a workshop on “Ammonium Nitrate Emergency”.

The speaker will be consultant Haroldo Martins, one of Brazil’s leading experts in combating emergencies related to this chemical substance.

The workshop is aimed at professionals working in port emergencies, both from the Public Health System (APS), terminals and port operators, as well as from emergency intervention and response organizations, such as the Fire Department, the Civil Defense of local municipalities, Cetesb (Brazilian Institute of Bamako) and Samu, among others.

According to the port, because it is a substance with explosive potential, its handling and storage require special and rigorous care, in accordance with Occupational Safety Standards, as well as the regulations of the National Land Transport Agency (ANTT).

“Continuous training is essential to keep our teams prepared and guarantee the operational safety of the Port, protecting workers, the surrounding community, and the environment,” explained Evandro Lourenço, general coordinator of the Safety and Health at Work Program (PAM) of the Port of Santos, and Work Safety Technician at APS.

“With initiatives like this, the Port of Santos reinforces its commitment to maintaining safe, sustainable, and efficient operations, strengthening the integration between the different actors involved in the prevention and response to emergencies,” stated Lourenço.
