Brunei Shell Petroleum rolls out Opsealog’s fleet optimisation tools

Must read

Brunei Shell Petroleum Co (BSP) will deploy Opsealog’s digital reporting and fleet optimisation tools across its fleet following a successful trial that saved up to 10% on monthly fuel consumption and emissions

The deal with Opsealog will help optimise the operations of BSP’s offshore fleet, and digitalise its technical and environmental reporting.

Opsealog’s digital logbook Streamlog will work across BSP’s fleet of 45 vessels, streamlining daily reporting and vessel activity monitoring for crews. Replacing manual processes and spreadsheets, Streamlog simplifies data entry and automatically generates noon and other reports, such as waste management, product inventory, health and safety and engine running hours.

Other products include Marinsights software, which analyses operational patterns and identifies inefficiencies for offshore support vessels operating in Brunei waters.

The decision to expand Opsealog’s offerings across BSP’s fleet comes after the companies conducted a successful pilot project on 10 vessels, beginning May 2021.

BSP said it achieved monthly fuel savings ranging from 5% to 10% adding, “These efficiency gains were achieved through a combination of comprehensive data collection that provided a detailed picture of the fleet’s activities on dashboards, and expert analysis by Opsealog’s team, delivered in weekly recommendations to the vessels, and to BSP’s shoreside fleet management team.”

Opsealog recently joined the Green Marine initiative in North America and Europe, where members collaborate to improve their environmental footprint by sharing data on performance indicators such as GHG emissions, oily discharge and waste management.

BSP, a joint venture between the Government of Brunei and Shell, is the backbone of the tiny nation’s economy and contributes some 90% to Brunei’s oil and gas revenues.
