Cadeler has secured a reservation agreement with Baltic Power for the installation of more than 70 offshore wind turbines in the Polish sector of the Baltic

The agreement marks Cadeler’s entry into what it described as “a new and developing offshore market.”

Cadeler will use one of its two O-class installation vessels, which by the time the project is executed will have upgraded cranes with a lifting capacity of 1,600 tonnes at a radius of 40 m.

Baltic Power is a joint venture project of PKN Orlen and Northland Power. Cadeler said it is due to sign a contract for the project H1 2023.

The Baltic Power windfarm will be the first commercial-scale project in Poland and one of the largest in the country. Construction is due to begin 2024 and will be finalised 2026. It will be built 23 km north of the Polish coast and have an area of more than 130 km2. The turbines for the project and their size have yet to be confirmed.

Poland has set a target of 5.9 GW of offshore wind by 2030 and 11 GW by 2040.
