CALB supplies power battery systems for offshore engineering vessels.

Must read

Recently, CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery) successfully launched and conducted trial voyages for a 1.2MWh high-safety marine battery system designed and developed for Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest oil company. Following its in-house developed battery system becoming the first in China to receive DNV marine battery system certification, CALB has now become the country’s first battery manufacturer to successfully deliver an ABS-certified marine battery system.

Leveraging its mature experience and technical expertise in marine power batteries, CALB completed the full-cycle delivery—from design and production to Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)—within 60 days.

The Karan8, Saudi Aramco’s first hybrid offshore support vessel (OSV), is equipped with CALB’s advanced battery system. It is scheduled for official deployment in the Persian Gulf in the second quarter of 2025, providing low-carbon port support services for Saudi Aramco. Its operational scope will cover major oil and gas hub ports in eastern Saudi Arabia (including Jubail, Dammam, etc.) and surrounding offshore oil and gas fields, with services including oil exploration, platform supply transport, crew transfers, and anchorage support. The vessel utilizes a hybrid power system, which is expected to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by 30%.
