Capital-Executive Ship Management takes delivery of new box ship

This week, Capital-Executive Ship Management Corp took delivery of newbuilding Manzanillo Express, a 13,300-TEU container vessel from Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries

 

This vessel has a carrying capacity of 2,220 refrigerated containers, which the Greek ship manager claimed is the “largest in the world.” Manzanillo Express is Hapag-Lloyd’s newest vessel, classed by American Bureau of Shipping, comes dual-fuel LNG ready and has a full alternative maritime power system installed to allow cold ironing. Cold ironing, or shore-to-ship power, provides shoreside electrical power to a ship at berth while its main and auxiliary engines are turned off.

The vessel also features environmentally friendly technologies that help reduce its energy consumption and lower NOx and SOx emissions by some 85% when compared wirh older container vessels of similar capacity.

Manzanillo Express will operate to the newest operational environmental standards, including full compliance with IMOs EEDI Phase 3, with the ability to run on Tier III mode together with the hybrid scrubber that is installed.

Capital-Executive Ship Management operates a 40-vessel fleet comprising of 36 box ships and four bulk carriers with a total dwt of 2,915,834 tonnes and total TEU of approximately 180,363.
