Bulk carrier HAI DAT 36 collided with cargo ship PHUC TINH 26б at around 2300 LT (UTC +7) Apr 20 off Phan Rang Bay, southern Vietnam, Ninh Thuan Province. Ships were on opposite courses. PHUC TINH 26, loaded with 3,200 tons of rolled sheet steel bound for Dong Nai, sank – understood the ship sailed into Phan Rang Bay intending to ran aground, to avoid sinking. PHUC TINH 26 sank, aft is resting on bottom, remaining partially above waterline. HAI DAT 36 rescued all 8 crew of PHUC TINH 26 and sailed to Cam Ranh, to disembark rescued crew. PHUC TINH 26 loaded with rice, is en route from An Giang to Hai Phong
