Associate Vice President, JSW Steel Limited, Mr. Abhijit Chaudhury: A Brief profile

Abhijit Chaudhury has extensive knowledge of the Industry for over three decades having worked in various fields of Commercial Shipping & Supply Chain Management. He had done his Post Graduation in Marketing Management (MBA).

He worked for Balmer Lawrie & Co, Calcutta for a brief stint thereafter he made move to Shipping, his calling. He joinedIndia Steamship Co Ltd (ISS), Calcutta. He was inducted in Shipping Team with a position in Chartering team. He has been with Shipping Industry since then managing different portfolios for various Organizations.

Having worked from Owners desk inISS & Gati Shipping at Chennai,while he was involved in Project Cargo handling with ULA (JM BAXI group) as Agents & Brokers and also worked withJapaneseJV Ship Operators ECL PUYVAST,Chennai, engaged in similar trade. In the process he has acquired 360-degree visibility of the Industry.

He has moved to Mumbai in 2010 & joined major Steel makers & Ship CharterersISPAT Industries Ltd (IIL), Mumbaias their Shipping Head where he was responsible for their entire Shipping activities including Chartering & Operations for both Import & Exports. After merger ofIIL with JSW Steel Ltdhe moved in toJSW Groupwhere presently he is in charge of their entire Import Operation of JSW Group which handles about 46 Million Tons of cargo carried through about 600 vessels annually comprising of Supramax, Panamax & Cape vessels under various long term COAs, Spot and CFR Contracts.

He has extensive knowledge ofCoastal Tradeas he is deeply involved in Coastal cargo movement over last decade for both for IIL & JSW through Supramax Vessels.

He has acquired an enviable exposure ofShip Chartering & Vessel Operationsfrom both sides of the spectrum.

He has been a regular speaker in various National & International Seminar / Workshops.
