Chennai Porthas set a new benchmark by handling an all-time high of 1.66 million TEUs (Twenty-foot Equivalent Units) as of Feb 28, surpassing its previous record of 1.62 million TEUs from 2018-19. This feat was achieved a month ahead of the financial year’s close.
On March 1, the port also crossed the 50-million-tonne overall cargo milestone, reaching the mark 22 days earlier than expected.
