The Chennai Port Authority will begin charging a parking fee of INR30 (US$0.34) per TEU (plus GST) from October at its two private container terminals, reports Mumbai’s Maritime Gateway.
The levy will apply to all containers handled at Chennai Container Terminal Pvt Ltd (DP World) and Chennai International Terminal Pvt Ltd (PSA Singapore), excluding transshipment, restow and rail-bound units.
In a notice issued by the traffic manager, ChPA urged port users and trade bodies to inform their members of the new charge and cooperate to ensure smooth trailer movement within the port premises.
