China Merchants Industry Jinling Shipyard Delivers 82,000-ton Bulk Carrier to Hong Kong Ming Wah

On October 28, the 82,000 deadweight ton bulk carrier “Ming Xiao”, built by China Merchants Industry Jinling Shipyard for Hong Kong Ming Wah Shipping Co., Ltd., was officially named and delivered in Yizheng, Jiangsu. Yuan Bo, Assistant General Manager of China Merchants Energy Shipping and General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah, and Jiang Jiazhong, General Manager of China Merchants Industry Jinling Shipyard, attended the event and delivered speeches.

Jiang Jiazhong pointed out that Jinling Shipyard has been fully promoting lean production and innovation-driven development over the years, focusing on cultivating and building the “China Merchants Jinling” brand. In the future, Jinling Shipyard will focus on the goal of “building a world-class enterprise”, continue to deepen strategic cooperation with Hong Kong Ming Wah, tackle green and intelligent ship technologies, and support the green and low-carbon transformation of the shipping industry and the high-quality development of the group.

Yuan Bo pointed out that the delivery of this ship is the result of internal collaboration between China Merchants Energy Shipping and China Merchants Industry, and is also a measure to serve the “Maritime Power” and “Transport Power” strategies. It will enhance the capacity guarantee for bulk grain transportation and safeguard national grain import security. In the future, China Merchants Energy Shipping will deepen collaboration to build a modern fleet and support global trade and the group’s development.

At the ceremony, Yuan Bo named the new ship “Ming Xiao”. Ye Qingqing from COFCO Oils & Fats cut the mooring line for the new ship and wished it safe and smooth voyages in the future, creating outstanding value for the shipowner.

Yin Haibo, Deputy General Manager of Jinling Shipyard, and Gao Wubin, Deputy General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah, jointly signed the ship delivery certificate.

Guests including Li Yong, Deputy General Manager of Hong Kong Ming Wah; Tan Tao, Deputy General Manager of Hong Kong Haitong; Bai Guanglei, Deputy General Manager of China Merchants Ship Trading; Hang Zhongjiu, Deputy General Manager of China Classification Society Jiangsu Branch; and Li Kunlun, Deputy Chief Engineer of Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, as well as relevant responsible persons from Hong Kong Ming Wah, China Classification Society Jiangsu Branch, the on-site supervision team, Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, and Jinling Shipyard attended the event.

The “Ming Xiao” has an overall length of 229 meters, a molded breadth of 32.26 meters, a molded depth of 20.35 meters, and a speed of 14 knots. It was primarily designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) and built according to the class standards of China Classification Society, adopting a fourth-generation green, energy-saving, and environmentally friendly design. The ship has 7 cargo holds, a theoretical deadweight of approximately 82,000 tons, and features optimized deadweight tonnage, high hold utilization rate, and strong route adaptability. The ship is equipped with SCR and a desulfurization system, meeting the latest emission requirements. It will efficiently serve the global grain supply chain in the future.
