China’sshipbuilding industry continued to take lead in the global market and topped the three major metrics used by the globalshipbuilding industry in the first eight months of 2022, with the highest number of completed orders, new orders and orders on hand, the China Association of the NationalShipbuilding Industry (CANSI) said on Thursday.
Specifically, from January to August, the country’s completed orders, new orders and holding orders in the industry reached 23.935 million, 28.053 million and 102.03 million dead weight tons (dwts) respectively, accounting for 45.4 percent, 50.6 percent and 47.7 percent of the global market respectively, according to the CANSI.
Statistics of the new orders show that China’s market share in high-endshiptypes further expanded, with liquefied natural gas (LNG)ships accounting for 27.2 percent, and containerships with capacity of more than 10,000 TEUs amounting to 43.9 percent of the global total.
