Lin Jian said: China is an important stakeholder in Arctic affairs. We have consistently participated in Arctic affairs in accordance with the basic principles of respect, cooperation, win-win results and sustainability, strengthened cooperation with all parties to uphold peace and stability and promote sustainable development in the Arctic.
Lin Jian pointed out: In recent years, the international community has paid more attention to the prospects of using the Arctic sea routes. The Arctic sea routes have the potential to become important routes for international trade.
China stands ready to step up international cooperation with Russia and other Arctic coastal states and other interested countries in the infrastructure building and operation of the Arctic sea routes and work together to promote the development, utilization and environmental protection of the Arctic sea routes.
According to earlier information from the Chinese company Haije Shipping Co., Ltd., Haije Shipping will launch the “China-Europe Arctic Express” on September 20. This route will take the Arctic Northeast Passage, connecting the ports of Qingdao, Shanghai, and Ningbo in China with Felixstowe in the UK, Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Hamburg in Germany, and Gdańsk in Poland, reducing the voyage from Ningbo Zhoushan Port to Felixstowe to just 18 days.
