CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering starts 20,000 m³ LNG bunkering vessel S-1129 for Somtrans SA

On 23 September, Nantong-based CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering held a steel-cutting ceremony at its west yard to start construction of a 20,000-cubic-metre LNG bunkering vessel, hull number S-1129, for Somtrans SA, the company said in a statement.

The vessel is the world’s largest LNG bunkering ship type and will be equipped with a WinGD 5X52DF dual-fuel main engine with an “ICER” system.

CIMC Pacific Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. is a Chinese offshore and shipbuilding enterprise based in Nantong, Jiangsu Province.

WinGD is a designer and licensor of low-speed two-stroke marine engines referenced here for the 5X52DF dual-fuel model.
