CMA CGM adds Gothenburg to its Asia–Europe service

Must read

For the first time, APM Terminals Gothenburg will receive three weekly mainliner calls to Asia, the company said in a statement.

The new service, launched by French shipping company CMA CGM, will connect Gothenburg directly with major ports in China, South Korea, Singapore, and Europe.

Mikael Gutman, Managing Director of APM Terminals Gothenburg, said that the move shows Gothenburg’s growing importance on the global trade map. “Three strong weekly alternatives for direct services to Asia significantly strengthen the competitiveness of Swedish industry, providing faster lead times and access to new, exciting markets,” he said.

CMA CGM will add Gothenburg as a port of call on its FAL1 Asia–Europe service at the end of October.

One of the vessels operating on the route, the 366-meter-long CMA CGM Symi, runs on liquefied natural gas (LNG), which the company says significantly reduces emissions compared to traditional marine diesel.

APM Terminals Gothenburg is part of APM Terminals, a global port operator headquartered in The Hague, Netherlands, and owned by A.P. Moller–Maersk Group. The Gothenburg terminal is Sweden’s largest container port facility and plays a key role in the country’s import and export logistics.

CMA CGM Group is a French multinational shipping and logistics company headquartered in Marseille. It operates one of the world’s largest container fleets and provides maritime, air, and inland transport services, as well as logistics and supply chain management through subsidiaries such as CEVA Logistics.
