Recently, the 5900TEU-08 ship built by China Merchants Industry Qingdao Shipyard for Greek shipowner Danaos successfully completed the main switchboard power-on and emergency generator engine-running operations. This marks the official entry of the ship into the commissioning stage, laying a solid foundation for the efficient progress of subsequent mooring trials.
Compared to previous vessels, the 08 ship is the first to achieve main switchboard power-on before the ship’s undocking, significantly advancing construction efficiency. As the command was given, the indicator lights on the main switchboard equipment lit up simultaneously at the moment of closing the switch, the instrument pointers moved steadily, and all operating parameters displayed normally. At the same time, the lighting throughout the engine room was fully illuminated, instantly clarifying the on-site working environment, marking the complete success of the power-on operation.
The success of this main switchboard power-on effectively validates the entire process of previous equipment installation, wiring, parameter calibration, and other work. This not only establishes a stable and reliable power foundation for the subsequent commissioning of the ship’s equipment but also, with the early breakthrough of this key milestone, sounds the clarion call for the project to advance at full speed towards the final delivery target.
