On August 6, the third 82,000 DWT bulk carrier built by China Merchants Industry Qingdao Shipyard for Norway’s Sea Tankers successfully completed its sea trial mission and triumphantly returned to dock at Pier 2.
During the sea trial, the project team efficiently advanced all tasks, promptly organizing safety emergency drills for all crew members to strengthen trial safety measures. Strictly adhering to the trial plan, they systematically tested the ship’s ballast system, power system, navigation equipment, and sailing performance. Test results confirmed that all technical indicators met the trial outline requirements, earning unanimous approval from the shipowner and inspection authorities.
To ensure trial progress, the project team implemented a three-shift inspection duty model, enabling uninterrupted inspection tasks around the clock. During this period, they utilized spare time to resolve over 100 mooring comments, demonstrate 42 equipment items, and review more than 100 trial comments, completing the lifeboat test before returning to port. To accelerate the trial schedule, daily progress meetings were held to coordinate personnel from the technical, quality management, and outfitting departments, significantly shortening the trial cycle.
After the sea trial, the project team will proactively plan for the delivery target, holding daily meetings to address trial comments and implementing a “responsibility assignment, daily task completion” mechanism to ensure the timely delivery of the third vessel.
